The Ultimate 2025 Anime Preview: Are We About to Witness Peak Anime?
A First Look at 2025’s Most Anticipated Anime—Hype or Letdown?
Welcome to the 2025 anime season—where our watchlists are about to get dangerously long, and our free time? Completely nonexistent. This year is absolutely stacked, from major sequels to long-awaited adaptations, plus a few wild cards that might just take us by surprise. Let’s break it all down so you know exactly what’s worth keeping an eye on.
Winter 2025: Kicking Off Strong

The new anime season is in full swing, and winter 2025 is not messing around. Heavy hitters like Solo Leveling season 2 and Sakamoto Days are leading the charge.
Solo Leveling Season 2 (Ongoing since January 4, 2025) – Let’s be honest, Solo Leveling has been feeding us well. The animation is phenomenal, and watching Sung Jinwoo aura farm his way through enemies is just chef’s kiss. This season is said to be covering the red gate arc, demon castle arc, hunters guild arc, and there’s a possibility the anime will set up the jeju island arc in the finale and cover the main events in season 3.

Sakamoto Days (Ongoing since January 11, 2025) – Sakamoto Days is about a former hitman who retires to live a peaceful life with his family, but is forced to return to his violent past. This one’s currently streaming on Netflix, and I haven’t had time to watch it yet, I can’t wait to dive in. (Yes, I’m lying. I’m too busy rewatching One Piece and jujutsu kaisen.)

Blue Exorcist: The Blue Night Saga (Ongoing since January 4, 2025) – Finally, some more Rin Okumura content.
Dragon Ball Daima (Ongoing) – Goku’s back… but tiny. Again.
(Ongoing since January 9, 2025) – No disrespect to Dr. Stone fans, but I started episode one and just… stopped. Maybe I’ll give it another shot?
Attack on Titan The Movie: The Last Attack (February 10, 2025) – AOT is a golden anime—pure gold. If you haven’t emotionally recovered from the finale, good luck.

Spring 2025: The Season of Sequels

Spring is coming in hot—literally, with the final season of Fire Force. Here’s what’s dropping:
One Piece: Egghead Arc (April 6, 2025) – PEAK RETURNS APRIL 6TH. That’s it. That’s the announcement.
Devil May Cry (April 2025) – Netflix’s anime adaptation of the legendary hack-and-slash game is finally here, featuring a younger Dante. Studio Mir is handling the animation, and it actually looks promising. This studio is known for their work on Legend of Korra. A new Devil May Cry trailer was even released during Netflix’s Geeked Week and, with it, a synopsis on what to expect from the hit series: Sinister forces are at play at the portal between the human and demon realms. In the middle of it all is Dante, an orphaned demon hunter for hire, unaware that the fate of both worlds hangs around his neck.

Fire Force Season 3 (April 2025) – The final season is upon us. Get ready for a blazing sendoff.
My Hero Academia: Vigilantes (April 2025) – MHA might be wrapping up, but this spinoff about rogue heroes stepping up is bringing fresh action to the franchise.
Wind Breaker Season 2 (April 2025) – If you liked Tokyo Revengers, this might be even better.
Yu-Gi-Oh GX 20th Anniversary Remaster (April 2025) – Those Yu-GI-Oh fans out there are officially old.
Summer 2025: The Heat is on

Dan Da Dan Season 2 (July 2025) – Dandadan continues with the Cursed House and Evil Eye arcs, meaning things are about to get even weirder—and I’m here for it. Check out my initial verdict on whether or not it’s worth the watch with my Dandadan review.
Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 (July 2025) – One of my absolute favorites. I’m especially hyped to see Gen Narumi, aka Japan’s Strongest Anti-Kaiju Combatant, finally make his anime debut.
Sakamoto Days Part 2 (July 2025) – More assassin action? Sign me up.
Fall 2025: The Grand Finale (and More Sequels)

Spy x Family Season 3 (October 2025) – Loid, Yor, and Anya return for more spy hijinks. Expect the Friendship Schemes and Red Circus arcs to be adapted.
My Hero Academia Season 8 (Fall 2025) – The long-running superhero shonen is finally coming to an end. I’ve been saving up episodes to binge instead of watching weekly—hopefully, that strategy pays off.
The Movies & TBD Releases That Have UsLosing Our Minds

And then there are the projects with no official dates yet, but the hype is unreal:
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 – We got a teaser visual, and I’m both hyped and mentally preparing myself for the Culling Game arc. (It’s basically anime Fortnite : sorcerer edition, but with trauma.)

Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc – I’m ready for this, but also, can we talk about how stinky the theaters are about to be? I’m just kidding… kinda.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Movie Trilogy – Ufotable is making sure Demon Slayer looks absolutely breathtaking… ironic, since some of these fights will quite literally leave characters breathless. Forever. Yeah… this is gonna hurt.
One-Punch Man Season 3 – It’s been confirmed that we will be receiving season 3 of one punch man but an exact date is still up in the air. I feel bad for the animators. Have you seen those manga panels?
Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 4 – I still haven’t finished Bleach (oops), but I know fans are eating well.
Fate/Strange Fake – More Fate content is always a win.
Oshi no Ko Season 3 – Haven’t watched this one yet, but fans are very excited. This anime follows two twins who find themselves embroiled in the world of pop idols, all deliciously wrapped up in a murder mystery. The second season arrived in 2024, but we're still waiting for a concrete release window for season 3. Fingers crossed it's in 2025.
Witch Hat Atelier – This one’s looking like it could be a sleeper hit.
Lazarus – From the director of Cowboy Bebop, featuring John Wick’s action director? This is either going to be legendary or completely insane. Either way, I’m watching. It center on a miracle drug that’s soon revealed to be a death sentence for those who have taken it. Soon, the hunt is on for the doctor responsible and the life-saving Lazarus vaccine.

Live-Action One Piece: A promising Season 2?
The One Piece live-action is back for a second season, and the new casting looks phenomenal:
Callum Kerr as Smoker – Solid choice.
Julia Rehwald as Tashigi – She looks like Tashigi. No complaints.
Joe Manganiello as Crocodile – Absolute chef’s kiss casting.
Charithra Chandran as Vivi – Excited to see how she plays such an important character.
The biggest question on everyone’s mind? How will they handle Chopper without CGI? The sneak peek looked decent, but we’ll see how it all turns out later this year.

Final Thoughts: 2025 is Feeding Us Well
Anime fans, we are EATING this year. Between the returning heavyweights, exciting new adaptations, and some unexpected gems, 2025 is looking like a year of peak fiction.
So, what are you most hyped for? Are you keeping up with everything, or are you, like me, doomed to rewatch your comfort anime forever? Until next time…
